Question 1

How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Bellevue?

Accepted Answer

Custom window treatments typically range from under $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote requires measuring the actual windows. That's why Made in the Shade Bellevue includes a free in-home consultation — we measure every window, show samples in your home's real Pacific Northwest light, and tailor the quote to your actual project. Financing is available.

Question 2

What window treatments are best for Bellevue's cloudy winters and hot summers?

Accepted Answer

For Bellevue's gray, low-light winters, light-filtering shades and top-down/bottom-up cellular shades maximize your scarce natural daylight while keeping privacy. For the increasingly hot, sunny summers, solar shades and insulating cellular shades block heat and glare and help cut your PSE bills. Many Eastside homeowners combine light-filtering shades in living areas with room-darkening or motorized options in bedrooms and media rooms.

Question 3

Are you locally owned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Made in the Shade Bellevue is locally, family-owned and operated by Piper Strand, a 40-year resident of the Issaquah-Sammamish area, alongside her brother Dan Osincup, our top design consultant. You work directly with your Eastside neighbors, not a call center. They serve the Greater Eastside — Bellevue, Medina, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, Sammamish, and Preston.

Question 4

Do your smart shades work with Alexa and Google Home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our motorized shades work with all major smart-home devices, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. Just say 'Alexa, raise my shades,' or schedule them to open with the morning light and lower during summer heat — perfect for the tech-forward Eastside home. They're ideal for the tall, hard-to-reach, floor-to-ceiling windows common in Bellevue homes.

Question 5

How does the free in-home consultation work?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade brings the showroom to you: your design consultant comes to your home, reviews products and samples in your actual light, takes professional measurements, and gives you a quote. After you order, our trained team handles professional installation for a perfect fit. No showroom trip — you compare colors and textures against your own walls, floors, and Eastside views.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade Bellevue serves Bellevue, Issaquah, Redmond, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Medina, Preston, and surrounding Greater Eastside areas. The mobile showroom comes to your home anywhere in the service area. Call (425) 638-4800 to confirm we cover your neighborhood — we'll bring the showroom to you.
